Overhead Bin Dimensions 12 years ago Save Is there a place to find the actual dimensions of the overhead bin on a specific aircraft? My favorite carry-on is within the airline's 22" x 14" x 9" limit, and seems to fit fine in older McDonnell Douglas DC-9s and most Boeing planes, but the wheels make it difficult in Airbus's A320.
Carry-on should not exceed the following size and weight restrictions: 50 linear inches (24 x 16 x 10 in) or 127 centimeters (61 x 41 x 28 cm) including handles and wheels; Fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. Personal item should of proper size to fit under the seat in front of you
For example, American Airlines' Boeing 737-800 aircraft went from 148 seats to 172 without adding extra bins or installing bigger ones, forcing passengers to compete for overhead space.

The 737-800 is a stretched version of the 737-700. This space allowed for bigger overhead storage bins, updated inflight entertainment systems, and AC power ports. In addition, the new configuration of the 737-800s allows for 12 additional Main Cabin seat. This aircraft is appropriate for very long domestic flights, or short international flights.
The carry-on bag size limit for flights has changed to 22'' x 14'' x 9'' - these dimensions include the wheels and handles. Be sure to measure your bag carefully before you fly. You'll still be allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item such as a purse, briefcase, or laptop bag. To help make the boarding process as smooth as possible for
